Plug Valves

Plug Valves: valves with cylindrical or conically-tapered "plugs" which can be rotated inside the valve body to control flow through the valve. Like the gate valve, the plug valve is used primarily for on-off, non-throttling service. The advantages of plug valves over gate valves are: minimum amount of installation space, simple operation, quick acting and the tight shutoff characteristics of the tapered plug.
